Paying for it
Tennessee has three programs that can go toward tuition.
Each one has its own rules about who qualifies. Here’s what they cover, what they’re worth, and a calculator to see what it means for Edison tuition. If you’d rather just ask a person, call the office and we’ll walk you through it.
And if the state funding doesn’t get you there, Edison has its own tuition assistance.
No family who belongs at this school should be turned away by the number at the bottom of the page. Call us before you rule us out.
The programs
Three programs, and who each one is for.
Edison is approved for all three.
Tennessee only allows one program per child per year, so you are picking your best fit, not stacking them.
Individualized Education Account
For students with specific disabilities, as set out in an IEP. Funds cover approved educational expenses, including tuition, so a family can shape the education around the child.
Education Savings Account
For students zoned to attend Metro Nashville Public Schools who meet the eligibility criteria, such as attending a low-performing public school or meeting income requirements. Funds can be applied toward tuition at approved private schools.
Education Freedom Scholarship
For Tennessee residents with a child entitled to attend a public school in grades K–12. State funds can go toward education expenses, including tuition.

This calculator is for planning only and doesn’t guarantee eligibility for state funding or Edison tuition assistance. State amounts are rounded estimates that change annually, and the state decides those. Edison tuition assistance is determined after you complete and verify the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, and depends on funds available — an award may come in higher or lower than the estimate here. Edison-funded assistance is capped at 30% of annual tuition per student. We’re glad to check your specific situation before you apply.

Almost nobody covers a year at Edison out of one pot. Here’s how the pieces actually fit together, so you can see the real number before you decide anything.
You’ll use one state program, not three.
Tennessee lets you apply to all three, and you can even be approved for more than one — but a student uses only one in a given school year. Pick which single program is worth the most to your family (and we’ll help you work that out, too).
Edison’s tuition assistance goes on top of it.
A state program on its own won’t cover a full year here. Many of our families also qualify for our in-house tuition assistance, which does stack with state funding. Many families who assumed Edison was out of reach have found that between the state’s and Edison’s assistance, a great education for your child can be surprisingly accessible.
